Sufganiyot Recipe

Oh right!!! I was going to tell you the recipe for the sufganiyot Ray-chan and I made on Monday!!


1⅔ cups all purpose flour
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp baking powder
1 cup sour cream
2 tbsp granulated sugar
½ tsp salt
1½ cup confectioners' sugar (powdered sugar)
1½ cup oil

Liquid measuring cup
1 cup measure
⅓ cup measure
1 tbsp measure
1 tsp measure
½ tsp measure
Frying pan
Large bowl
Paper towels
2 Plates (preferably not paper)
Zip-lock baggie
Jam jar

In a frying pan, heat the oil to medium heat.
Pour the confectioners' sugar into the baggie and set aside.
In a large bowl, combine all ingredients until mixed thoroughly.
Take a tablespoon full at a time and carefully place in the oil-fry for 3 to 5 minutes or until golden brown flipping every so often.
Place the paper towel and onto the plate, then carefully remove doughnuts from the oil and place onto the paper towel to drain.
Once cooled make sure they're done all the way through by putting a knife through the center-if residue remains, cut open and place back into oil.
Take a fully-cooked and cooled doughnut and place in the baggie-move it around until fully coated, then place on extra plate. Repeat until all doughnuts are coated.
Finally, let the oil cool down. As this is too much oil to run down the drain, pour it into an empty jam jar or other jar of sorts to use again another time.
These are best eaten the day of, so enjoy!!


I was surprised that it used sour cream o.o You couldn't taste it at all but it still seemed odd to me when I first read it
